About the Experience

Description

The OEL Bison Bikes program is a free, semester bike rental for Bucknell students. Each bike comes with a helmet and bike lock. This program supports sustainable transportation options on campus, as well as benefits the health and wellness of students. Students can enter a lottery to be selected for a bike each semester.

The Bison Bike Technician will be an important team member in maintaining, organizing, and facilitating the operations of Bison Bikes. This person will be responsible for issuing bikes, performing basic bike repairs and tune ups, and receiving bikes at the end of each semester. This position reports to the Director and Assistant Directors of OEL.

We are in search of motivated students, both eligible and not-eligible for work study, who are willing to begin work this semester and continue on our team for every semester during their time at Bucknell.

Duties

As a student staff member of the Bucknell Outdoor Education and Leadership (OEL) team, the Bison Bikes Technician is first and foremost expected to foster a positive, safe and engaging environment for all individuals. Bison Bike Technician job responsibilities are as follows:

-Technician will be responsible for issuing Bison Bikes at the beginning of each semester, with assistance from Rental Center Staff as needed

-Technician will be responsible for receiving Bison Bikes at the end of each semester, with assistance from Rental Center Staff as needed

-Technician will assist in ongoing basic maintenance of Bison Bikes

-Technician will keep track of and communicate needs for larger bike repairs to the Assistant Director of OEL

-Technician will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working space

-Technician will conduct routine inventory and equipment inspections

-Technician will work closely with Director and Assistant Director of OEL to make necessary equipment purchases

-Technician will attend regular staff meetings

-Technician will work to provide excellent customer service

-Technician will assist with designated related tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

-Be a student of Bucknell University, at the Undergraduate or Graduate level

-Possess strong organizational and time management skills

-Be a strong communicator

-Experience with basic bike maintenance is preferred, but will be taught in this position

Work Hours

6-10 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Hours may vary throughout the semester.

Compensation

$11.25/hour starting
