Leader Bikepacking Trip!

Bikepacking is a combination of camping, backpacking, and cycling! OEL leaders will try out this type of trip as a test run to see if it's something we'd want to run with participants. We'll bike for 10-20 miles along the Pine Creek Rail Trail, which is a flat, gravel path that meanders alongside Pine Creek. (It's beautiful!) We'll camp out, and the next day bike pack to the cars. 

Participation in this trip is dependent on the availabilty of a bike in your size! (We will be using our mountain bikes). After registering for this trip, you'll recieve an offical confirmation from the Trip Leaders. We likely will be able to accomodate a group of 8-9 people.

• Meet on campus to get sized for bikes, practice packing gear in panniers/bike trailer, practice loading bikes
• Discuss the trip plan

Day 1 - 4/6/2024

• 8:00AM - Meet at Basecamp for breakfast
• 9:00AM - Depart campus for Pine Creek
• 10:30AM: Arrive at parking lot. Begin biking. Have lunch.
• Afternoon/evening: Arrive at Campsite. Set up camp, make dinner, hangout!

Day 2 - 4/7/2024

• 8:00AM - Wake up, pack up
• 9:30AM - Bike pack to the cars
• Afternoon: Depart Pine Creek, and arrive back to campus. Pack in.

What's Provided?

• Bike, helmet, and bikepacking bags/trailer
• OEL Rental Center equipment/clothing.
• Transportation during field session.
• Breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks for field session.

Cost

This training is complimentary (FREE / NO COST) for Bucknell OEL Student Leaders.

Registration Information

This training is open enrollment to all current Bucknell OEL Student Leaders although capacity is limited and registrations are accepted on a first come first serve basis. A Bucknell ID is required at the time of registration.

Cancellations & No Shows

Complimentary (FREE) OEL Trainings provided to Bucknell OEL Student Leaders have limited capacity. If a Student Leader signs up and doesn’t show for the program, it’s disruptive for everyone involved and takes away from the experience for other students. Further, this can negatively impact a Student Leader's ability to continue in this roll on future trips and outings.

We understand that things come up and life happens. We get it. We simply ask that you notify us at least 14 days in advance of a Training and let us know of your cancellation and why. You can do this by going back to our Portal and clicking on the “CONTACT” link in the upper right of the screen.

Failure to contact us of your cancellation is noted by the OEL Admin Team. This may lead to your dismissal as a student leader from the OEL program.
