About the Experience
Join us for a week long winter break trip to Southwest Colorado to ice climb in Ouray, CO. This experience will start with a flight to Montrose, CO, which is where we will officially kick off our adventure and finish outfitting our trip. From here, we will make the ~1 hour drive to Ouray, CO.
The first day of this trip will be dedicated to a full orientation to ice climbing, including an introduction to the equipment, rules and regulations of the ice park, and a tour of the town of Ouray and ice park. The following four days will be filled with ice climbing in the Ouray Ice Park; a human made ice climbing park built and operated in a spectacular natural gorge located within walking distance of the city of Ouray. This public park is home to over 100 named ice and mixed climbing routes, almost all located within a 15 minute walk of the park entrance. This trip is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of ice climbing and build upon those skills over the coming days. Prior experience is not required, but an enthusiasm for the outdoors and for trying new things is heavily encouraged. After the conclusion of the ice climbing portion of the trip, we will make our way back to Montrose, where we will pack up and return to campus to kick off the Spring 2023 semester.

Cancellations & No Shows
OEL Trips & Outings provided to Bucknell students have limited capacity. If a student signs up and doesn’t show for the program, it’s disruptive for everyone involved and takes away from other student’s experience.
We understand that things come up and life happens. We get it. We simply ask that you notify us as soon as possible and let us know of your cancellation. You can do this by communicating directly with the professional staff who are attending the trip (Nate Smith & Sarah Morris).
Students who notify us of their need to cancel before or on the due date/time of the remaining balance (12/2/2022 4:00 PM) will receive a refund of fees paid minus their deposit. If no additional payment has been made beyond the deposit, no refund is provided as the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Refunds will not be issued for those who choose to cancel beyond 12/2/2022 4:00 PM.
