About the Experience
Description
The OEL Rental Center and Basecamp is Bucknell University’s one stop shop to rent all kinds of outdoor recreation equipment, from tents to boats to cross-country skis or river tubes. The Rental Center space also acts as the “Basecamp” for OEL trip operations, and is where trips are planned, start and end.
Rental Center Student Staff will be an important team member in seeing through the ongoing daily operations of the rental center. This person will play a critical role in helping to manage this OEL community space and equipment. This position reports to two Rental Center Student Managers.
We are in search of motivated students, both eligible and not-eligible for work study, who are willing to begin work in the fall 2022 semester and continue on our team for every semester during their time at Bucknell.
Duties
As a staff member of the Bucknell Outdoor Education and Leadership (OEL) team, the Rental Center Student Staff is first and foremost expected to foster a positive, safe and engaging environment for all individuals and hold a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. Rental Center Student Staff job responsibilities are as follows:
-Staff will assist in ongoing maintenance of rental center equipment inventory
-Staff will assist in sending out and receiving rental equipment reservations
-Staff will share responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and professionalism at the rental center
-Staff will conduct routine inventory and equipment inspections
-Staff will work to provide excellent customer service
-Staff will assist with designated related tasks as needed
-Complete a project/ task that would promote cultural understanding on campus.
Minimum Qualifications
-Be a student of Bucknell University, at the Undergraduate or Graduate level
-Possess strong organizational and time management skills
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Maintain a 2.0 GPA for Undergraduate and 3.0 for Graduate students
-Experience working in an outdoor rental center is preferred, but not required
Work Hours
6-10 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters, with possible opportunities for optional Summer hours. Hours may vary throughout the semester.
Compensation
$10.00/hour starting
