Overview

Join us for a relaxing morning of fly fishing at Penn's Creek! We will provide fly fishing rods, reels, and flies but participants are welcomed to bring their own. We will be fishing for primarily trout with dry flies, streamers and nymphs. This is catch and release fishing. Participants of all experience levels welcomed!

Location

​

We'll first meet at the OEL Basecamp on Bucknell's campus. From there we'll make the 40 minute drive west to Penn's Creek.

Schedule

​

-7:30 AM - Meet at the OEL Basecamp on Bucknell's campus

-7:45 AM - Depart for Penn's Creek

-2:00 PM - Arrive back to Bucknell's campus

What's Provided?

-Rain jacket and pants (if needed)

-Sunscreen & bug spray

-Light snacks

-Transportation to/from

-Fly fishing equipment (fly rods/reels/lines, flies, etc.)

What To Bring

​

-Rain jacket

-Rain pants

-1 pair of broken in waterproof hiking boots or 1 pair of broken in water shoes (your shoes will get wet!)

-1 non-cotton long sleeve shirt

-1 non-cotton long pants (quick dry pants are best)

-1 long underwear (depending on weather)

-1 lightweight fleece pullover or sweatshirt (non-cotton)

-Warm/insulating jacket

-Small backpack

-1-2 water bottles

-A hat/visor for sun

-Sunglasses

-Personal snacks

-Personal ID

-PA Fishing License

PA Fishing License​

​

In order to fish legally, each participant is required to purchase a 1-day fly-fishing license from the state of PA for $11.90. Fees paid for this license may be reimbursed by Bucknell OEL by showing proof of purchase. Each student must complete this form on their own. More details regarding this process will be included upon receiving your confirmation message after successful program registration.
